The major emphasis of "The 21st Century Automotive Challenge" is real world competitive performances between battery-powered cars, solar, hybrid cars, bio-diesel, and regular gasoline fueled cars.

The Tour-to-the-Shore
A RALLY TO THE SCENIC JERSEY SHORE WITH POINTS FOR ACCURATE DRIVING AND GREATEST FUEL ECONOMY
In three divisions: Gasoline Cars, Trucks and SUVs, Diesel and Biodiesel Vehicles, Gasoline-Electric Hybrids
With awards including: Best performance in each division, Best fuel economy in each division, Overall best fuel economy, Grand winner

The Run to the River - Electric Vehicle Event
A range tour over the highways similar to the Tour to the Shore but shorter, in line with the range capability of present day BEV’s. The objective was to showcase BEV’s performing useful work as an everyday transportation option through the following events:
- Acceleration Trials
see the zero-to-sixty power of electricity - Autocross Event
feel a ride unhampered by the combustion engine - Technology Exhibition
talk to the experts and entrepeneurs about their green experience
The Burlington County Earth Fair:
On Sunday the annual Burlington County Earth Fest featured a display of battery and hybrid vehicles from the competition as well as the award winners of the Tour. The festival included many other earth- friendly exhibits and activities for the whole family.
A catered dinner and awards ceremony concluded the day. There, Nancy Hazard, former director of the NESEA American Tour de Sol presented a talk entitled, "Where do we go from here?"
